Overview:
SC1333 is a PFM boost type three-cell lithium battery charging control integrated circuit that works from 2.7V to 6.5V. SC1333 adopts constant current and quasi-constant voltage modes for battery charging management. It integrates a reference voltage source, inductor current detection unit, battery voltage detection circuit and off-chip field effect transistor drive circuit, etc. It has the advantages of fewer external components and simple circuit.
When the input power is turned on, SC1333 enters the charging state, controls the off-chip N-channel MOSFET to turn on, and the inductor current rises. When it rises to the upper limit set by the external current detection resistor, the off-chip N-channel MOSFET turns off and the inductor current decreases. The energy transfer in the inductance: move to the battery. When the inductor current drops to the lower limit set by the external current detection resistor, the off-chip N-channel MOSFET turns on again, and so on. When the BAT pin voltage reaches the internally set 12.6V (typical value) for the first time, the SC1333 enters the quasi-charge mode, charging the battery with a smaller current. Only when the BAT pin voltage reaches 12.6V for the second time, the charging process ends and the off-chip N-channel MOSFET remains off. When the BAT pin voltage drops to the recharge threshold, SC1333 enters the charging state again. The maximum operating frequency of SC1333 is up to 1MHz, and the operating temperature range is from -40C to +85C.
When the battery voltage is lower than the input voltage or the battery is short-circuited, the SC1333 will continue to charge the battery with a smaller current under the combined action of the off-chip N-channel MOSFET and the P-channel MOSFET to protect the battery.
Other functions include chip enable input, status indicator output and so on.
